'71 Firebird 400/TH400 in need of resto-mod! Help!!!?

I've been shopping around online at places in the central Texas area (either near Killeen, where I'm stationed; or San Antonio, my hometown). I'm on a budget of less than $20k. I don't need a concourse-grade resto, I just want my exterior fixed up and my engine to put out over 500hp (which I know can be done thru research). I'm currently deployed to Kirkuk, Iraq, so it's a problem trying to use this slow-@$$ internet and too expensive to be shopping around my making calls. Can someone help me?

save your money until you get back and can do face to face with the shops and people. too many people will rip you off if you are doing this while out of the country.
