Hello, I have a 72 LeMans with the original 350 motor, low miles, unmolested. I know the 7H1 are very restrictive stock heads with low compression, mine also do not have the outer bolt holes for headers, but that's no big deal to me as the stock logs still sound great with a Pypes Violator system. The issue at hand is I want a better cam, but I've gotten alot of conflict over it. A guy I deal with directly says there's very few cams that will fit this motor, and none of which will give me a lopey idle without me cutting the heads to facilitate longer springs for a more aggressive cam. Obviously I'm not looking to put a crazy cam in a stock motor, but can I get a little lope and power? The only cam he can get me is like $250 and a lopey idle isn't even guaranteed. Has anyone done any work to one of these motors with said heads? I'd greatly appreciate some input.

what rear end ratio do you have? do you have a 4bbl carburetor? is it an automatic or manual? The 7H1 heads are small valve with low compression. Just sticking a bigger cam in will not do much, if anything at all, since it will be restricted by the heads.

Not too sure on the rear, maybe 3.23s, honestly not sure.

Manual, 4 bbl Edelbrock with Performer intake.

so put in the Ram Air III cam listed on the crane link along with their spring and retainer set
