Hi Pontiac Brain,
Just purchased a 72 and started to research. I was trying to decipher the data tag.
Trim shows SSPC.
11A code.
Anyone know what those mean?

Thanks and I look forward to this project.

you are referring to the tag on the drivers side firewall?
can you post a picture?
the 11A could be the first week of November

Let see if the picture worked....
I'm also open to interpretation of the rest of the tag.

If i were you I would contact www.phs-online.com and see, for a fee, what they come up with on the original invoice. That SSPC is not a standard code from what I can tell, should be a number. Assembled in Pontiac, Mich. The 26 is Lucerne Blue. The 11A is November 1st, week, of 71, A63, I believe rear seat belt delete, refer to option groups that were ordered for the car. I wonder if you have stumbled upon something rare. Please let us know if they can decipher your code, SSPC.

Did that with PHS.
Unfortunately it did not show anything out of the ordinary. Looks like the A65 is for a bench seat but the invoice showed buckets. So maybe that was what the SSPC was for?

OK, thought it was A63, the A65 is Seat, Frt Bench, Split Back, Ctr Arm Rest.
So you have buckets with a console?
Did you show them/ask them specifically about the SSPC code?

Not yet, I just got it back today. Will do that and update all of you.

Welcome, Lucy Blue is a great looking color. I would be interested in what PHS has to say about the code.
Odds are a previous owner swapped in the buckets seats, after almost 50 years and who knows how many owners it is sometimes hard to tell how they originally came from the factory. PHS is a great tool, but it has its limits, and they are only as good as the people originally entering the data by hand. There have been some obvious errors in the PHS, but it is not their fault, they only store and can pull up what was entered 50 years ago.

Update

I found the build sheet. Unfortunately it was under the carpet sound deading material at the drivers feet. It shows that the buckets were removed for a bench seat. I'm guessing that is where the "special" for the interior trim came from.

you are lucky you found the build sheet!

That is a rare find, and rarer yet that it can still be read. I would try to preserve it and keep it out of the light!
