This may be a dumb question...
Do all 70-81 Firebird Formula Trans Ams with Pontiac engine come with battery on the driver's side?
Asking for a friend...
Thx

Pontiac engine - driver's side

Chevy engine - passenger side

Oldsmobile engine - driver's side

( Chevy engines were used in Canadian models)

Thank you Doug in P.R.

I asked this question because my (friend's) 73 Formula had the battery on the passenger side. The only thing I could think of is it may have had a Chevy engine at some point. Charcoal cannister was moved too.....and it looks like it's been there for quite some time.
In case anyone was wondering....

That is strange, the only Chevy engines Pontiac put if Firebirds were the 250 straight 6's, Standard engine in the Base Firebird. They were not available in Formula Models in 73, V8 engines were standard in Formula's. 350, 400, 455, or SD 455. all are Pontiac V8's.

Are we sure the car was originally a Formula? A lot of things can happen to a car in the 45+ years sense it rolled out of the factory

He can decode the VIN using this link. It should narrow down what engine it came with originally

It is a Formula...2U87N3N
W66 on plate
350 2V dual exhaust.

I was thinking that somewhere along the line the original Pontiac 350 was replaced. God knows when.....
Sorry if I implied it was a factory installation.
Thanks for the help though
Pete
