I'm buying a 76 Trans Am rolling project less engine, trans, interior, and front clip. I checked PHS and it shows as an car bought by a GM employee and shipped October of 1976. Just really weird that she was shipped after 1977's would have been sold and shipped. Black on Black no hood bird, or A/C, automatic. Nice list of options otherwise though. Just curious if this was a collection of leftover 76 parts assembled and sold to an employee for a good deal? Maybe the oddity would give it a little better value? These days it seems oddballs are given more attention then run of the mill production cars.

What is the actual build date, I wouldnt go by a ship date to determine anything.

All I have is the invoice accounting copy through PHS. Cowl tag is not in place right now. That made me nervous but the firewall stamping number under the heater box and last 6 of v.i.n. tag match.. Dash is virtually untouched to indicate anything less than legit T/A.. When I compare my other two 76 Trans Am's build dates on the cowl tags one was built 11B vin ....522000 another built 06C ....592000 and this one in question is ....578000 I think it should be 04? April then wasn't shipped 'till November WTH? All three are Norwood cars.

Your never going to know why it wasn't shipped till November but you have figured out it was an approximately April build which makes more sense.

Yeah, strange things happen sometimes with these cars. Up here in the "old" Motor City these car companies did things making no sense at times. Or in this case Ohio, a.k.a. rust belt. This thing's pretty solid being it lived it's life in Michigan as far as I can gather. Sold to a GM employee invoice states delivered to an owner's address. Less than 20 miles from me..
