81 TA fuel tank

Hello everyone,
I have a 1981 TA WS6 with the chevy 305, cali car. need to replace fuel tank sending unit but looking online found there are multiple units with different outlets for fuel and vents, is my car a 2nd gen or 3rd gen early / late model, how do I find out without dropping the tank to find out.

All 1981 Firebirds are second generation. Dont know where you are looking but at Rock Auto they show two different senders one with A/C and one without A/C. So pick the correct one based upon whether your car came from the factory with or without A/C.
