Here is all the problems I have with my fiero that I don't know how to repair / don't know cause.

1. Radiator fan does not kick on.
It takes forever to get warm but even when it is, it doesn't kick on 275 and it hadn't kicked on.

2. Fast Idle on start.
It really races when doing cold start calms down after a bit but still only drops to 2,000 rpms. Doesn't race as long after starting it up over and over.

3. Loud squeal.
When starting there is a loud squeal from the back, and when turning on headlights it squeals untill there put down. (Only when running)

4. Rear swaying
While driving the rear end sways back and forth, when not on gas. When jacked and attempting to shake wheels to check bushings them move very slightly with force. I was told it could be Alignment.

Please give me your opinion on all these, please use detail and photos if possible.

1. Fan switch sensor, fan relay, or fan is bad. Stock fan switch turns on at 235*. Rodney Dickman does sell lower temp switches. http://www.rodneydickman.com/n20.html
If vehicle has A/C, the fan should come on when the A/C is turned on. If it doesn't check fan and relay.

2. Most likely a vacuum leak. Could also be bad IAC or a problem with the throttlebody.

3. Loose belt or alternator going bad. Check belt to alternator if worn replace.

4. Fiero's require a 4-wheel alignment due to the independent suspension. Have a full alignment done. Also low air pressure in the tires can cause swaying as well.
If tires are worn, suggest new tires and a proper alignment.

For part location and detailed troubleshooting, download the 1986 Factory Service Manual from http://www.fieronews.net/fusion/downloads.php?cat_id=13
This will show you where things are located, how to test them, and how to change them.

1. I gotta test to see if its motor or relay.

2. Where is most probably location of vacum leak, whats IAC? Today I ran it and it idled around 1700rpms after a first start.

3. I moved alterantor back there is no longer squealing.

4. I'll attempt to get it alligned before inspection.

.

The IAC is the Idle Air Control. When looking at the throttlebody it is the 4-wire sensor on the throttlebody facing you.

Common vacuum leaks are the EGR mounting, The canister on the left side of the engine compartment, and if equipped the cruise control canister. (usually mounted on the trunk side horizontally) The best thing to do is to follow all the vacuum lines off of the throttlebody and make sure they fit tightly at each end and have no cracks. There is a large one on the left side going towards the firewall which goes to the brake booster up front.

Then I doubt its a vacuum leak, I just replaced all the bad hoses. It runs about 1500 rpms now, After a cold start of 3000.

still

1. Still idles around 1,500 not a big deal for me. But when I give it gas and hold at 3000 or less it shakes and then if i let off it drops below 1000 and either dies or saves it self.

2. Put in new clutch slave cylinder (or rebuilt one) I can change gears now after I mash the glutch. I don't think i have enough preassure I have to pump it or mash it to the floor. I checked everything I don't see any leaks ect.

3. Got a shot battery I believe any thing else i tcould be it dies after sitting a few days.

1. You can set the idle; beyond that, it could be all kinds of things.

2. Sounds like you still have air in the system. (Don't tell me how many times you bled it. It took me almost two weeks to get all the air out.)

3, Could be a bad battery. Here in Arizona, they can die overnight. Or it could be a short, bad ground, or open circuit. Time to chase some wire!

I feel your pain. Owning a Fiero is a lot like growing old, but instead of sitting around talking about our mystery ailments, we sit around talking about our car's mystery ailments. I swear every week that I'm gonna sell the damn thing--until I walk out, see it in the driveway, and climb behind the wheel.
