87 fiero gt manual trans- wont go into gears when running, will when not running?

I have a feeling its either the slave or clutch disc. there is no visable leaks, the fluid is full, does have full pedal(its not on the floor), it slowly went from smooth shifting to hard shifting to no shifting(cant put into any gear, grinds when forced). what you think?

have someone press the clutch while you look at the slave cylinder for movement

Fluid may be full--and also full of air. As the man said, watch the slave while someone depresses the clutch. You should get an inch-plus of movement. If not, and before you start assuming the worst, do a thorough bleed of the master and slave. (There are bunches of methods. I like V8 Archie's.)

My 87 GT did the same thing and it needed a clutch
