'87 firebird valve problem?

To start, my car has a 305 in it. i took my car to a mechanic and was told that two valves on the passenger side had low pressure and the heads would need to be removed to fix it. I want to know how much would a repair like this cost? Keep in mind i only know a bit about cars so if I sound stupid, sorry.

I believe what he was telling you is that you have 2 burnt valves and you need a valve job. A guess would be 16 hours times his hourly rate plus the cost of the machine shop and parts. The whole job could be around $1,000+. Why didnt you ask the mechanic how much?
