First off hello and just want to say what an awesome site this is,very nice people and very informative, cudo's to all.

I have a question that I'm hoping someone can help me with I have a 91 Sunbird that constantly blows the Gauge Cluster fuses that includes the Speedometer which has a Speed Sensor instead of being cable driven.

It will work for awhile ,sometimes 2 miles and then again sometimes 2 weeks but it eventualy blows that fuse.

Im "somewhat" good with cars and I looked for naked wires etc. under the hood from battery to firewall that could be the cause but didnt see anything abnormal and I know that wiring can be a bear even for the experienced mechanic and was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and could maybe point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance for any help y'all may can give me.

I've never had this problem but if you mean the 10A fuse, I would remove the cluster and pull all indicator bulbs of the Check Oil, Brake, malfunction, shift (M/T only), antilock brake, and Check Engine. Drive it a couple of weeks and if it doesn't blow add one bulb at a time till it does and that is the circuit or the bulb. I have seen bulbs and therer sockets be shorted internally and blow fuses. You could change them all and see what happens and inspect the sockets. If it blows with all bulbs removed, then that fuse also supplies power to the Electronic Vacuum Regulator Valve (EVRV), Purge Solenoid Valve, and the Torgue Converter Clutch solenoid (A/T only)(through the brake switch on the pedal). If nothing shows then there are the three PC boards of which one could be bad but not likely. If this all fails, you will have to isolate one circuit at a time (wire) that fuse controls to find the problem circuit and then down to the component. Don't envy that situation. Good luck.
