My sunbird doesnt run right. While Im at a stop the whole car shakes! It has been sitting for a couple years so this doesnt suprise me. I put fresh gas with fuel system cleaner, changed oil, new air filter, new spark plugs, and it still runs crappy while idling :( . Someone please help Im not sure what else to do!

Have you changed the old fuel filter? You could have bad plug wires. The injectors may be clogged from the car sitting. Try more fuel system cleaner.

Just to add my 2 cents but ti could be a clogged EGR Valve. Just take it off after picking up a new gasket and clean it with electrical cleaner. Mine had so bad carbon deposits I had to actually chip them out with a small screw driver. Careful not to hurt the inside of it being over forceful.

Also is there any other symptoms other than just shaking? Any smoke, misfire, or anything else to help narrow it down?

I would definately look under the hood at night to see if there are any crossfires from the plug wires. Just one wire shorting to ground will do that shaky thing.

If there is or was old gas in the tank, you should of had the tank drained and a new fuel filter installed first before even starting the car. Old gas turns into turpentine and it will make a mess out of everything. It may even have water in the fuel also.

Since it is running , you can turn up the idle a little and it may help and I hope the injectors aren't clogged cause they aren't cheap.

FUEL FILTERS ON ALL FUEL INJECTED CARS SHOULD BE CHANGED AT EVERY 10,000 MILES TO KEEP THEM IN GOOD RUNNING CONDITION!

I added a pic below to show where to turn up the idle on a 92 OHC 2.0. you just remove the black little cap and turn it with a " torx " driver. It only goes so far, but it may be enough to keep you going till all the old fuel is gone.

Automatic Transmission?

Could also be the lock up convertor solenoid is going bad , but usually that makes the car quit running when you come to a stop.

Just disconnect the blue plug on the front side of the transmission, ( viewed from the front of the car ) and see if that helps.

Pic added to show you the plug location ( lower left - 92 Sunbird is similar)
