transmission trouble? replaced the transmission with a supposedly good one from junkyard(all we could afford at the time) has the 3.3 lt. v6. when the car is cold it doesnt want to change gears and when its warm it shifts a little high but otherwise drives fine. any idea what's going on? bum transmission?

It could be a misadjusted cable or the trans could be weak ..
I would check the adjustment on the throttle valve cable as it can cause late shifts and hard shifts if not correctly positioned
if you are not sure about the adjustment I would take it to a trans shop for proper adjustment they can be tricky to get correct and it is critical that they are done right or the trans will burn up..

Probably a bum trans but you can do the checks mentioned above along with making sure the vacuum line going to the modulator valve is good and not cracked/split and leaking. A leaking modulator will cause late shifts.
