Earlier this year we were in an accident that "Totaled" the car, but we replaced the radiator and fixed the frame damage and the car has been running well for most of the year until recently.

The car is having an issue now where the car will start from cold just fine, take a short trip and be shut off (say, going to the store), then five or ten minutes later wont start sometimes, but will eventually start after several tries. In addition, when idling it has stalled a few times, and once has stalled while in motion.

It was throwing a check gauges, which we tracked down to the throttle positioning sensor, which fixed a high initial idle but hasn't solved the stalling / not starting problem.

Any idea what it could be? I don't know much about cars but my first intuition from here is the fuel pump.

Do you still have a check engine light? How many miles since you replaced the fuel and air filters? The other potential issue, since the hard starting occurs when you have a warm engine, is leaky fuel injectors. You would have to do a fuel pressure test to see if after you turn off the engine, does the fuel pressure rapidly drop.

It doesn't have the check gauges light on after replacing the TPS. The air filter was changed out earlier this year, but I don't think its ever had a fuel filter change - and its got around 150k miles on it.

I'm already planning to do a fuel pressure check tonight or tomorrow, so I'm glad I'm hopefully on the right track here.
