I need help before I spend alot of money on unnecessary parts. My speedometer and odometer stopped suddenly last month while driving. Since then the automatic door locks which used to activate at 8 MPH also stopped working. The upshift reminder light on the dash is also not working. This has led me to believe that it lost the spped signal at the very begining since nothing seems to be recieving the signal. I suspect the vehicle speed sensor on the trans. My local parts stores say it is dealer only. Dealer list is about $120. I know this is the Izuzu manual trans and I am wondering if anyone agrees with my diagnosis and what other years might share this sensor so I can look in the junkyard (cavaliers? sunfires?) I got one out of a cavalier that looks right but the mounting bolt is oriented in a different direction. Does anyone care enlighten me? My two wires of the sensor are black and green, while the chevy sensor had black and yellow. Thanks, mike.

Hey,

I have a '90 Sunbird SE, and my speedometer and tachometer are off by 10-15 KM/hour and about 800rpm too high. Soooo... I am planning on changing my speed sensor. I too am also going to (try to) buy it at the scrap yard. I'll let you know how it goes when/if I buy it... :)

93 Speed Sensor

I Checked For You On The Speed Sensor, The Cavalier 92-94 Uses The Same Sensor, If It Is A Mk7 Transmission. Also, 95-99 Cav And Sunfires Also Use The Same Sensor,as Well As 93-94 Grand Am. Wire Color Should Not Affect This, Neither Should Bolt Mounting Gm Part# 25074656 Should Be Used. It Is Possible That A Part # Will Be Engraved Or Stamped On The Sensor. You Are Most Likely Right With Your Diagnosis. I Work At A Gm Dealer. Hope This Helps

thanks for the help
