My compressor clutch blew off a week ago and I had to get it towed because the belt was not spinning so I got it towed to a friends house so i wasn''t paying a ton to get it towed to my house which is far away

so here i removed the compressor and put a replacement pulley in it''s place.
My decision is to completely remove the a/c system because it robs me of that small amount of horsepower and it is a convertible so i''m not really in need of an a/c system but i do not have the time, space, or tools to do it at my friends house so i need to drive it about an hour to my house tomorrow.

Will anything be damaged other then the a/c system which at this point i do not care about?

also i noticed that the battery seems to be draining and then recharging randomly could this be because of the cord connecting to the a/c compressor is just left there dangling? Maybe the alternator just went at a coincidental time? not to sure... What can i do about that?

I would think that as long as the belt is running true with sufficient tension (the tensioner pulley isn't bottomed out), and the replacement pulley is mounted sturdily - should be OK.

An open A/C will attract moisture - not a big deal if you are abandoning it.

You need to make sure that the compressor wire was not damaged so that it may ground out. If so, it needs to be taped up. The controls will call for the compressor and energize this wire whenever the defrost, bi-level, or A/C is selected.

Would think your alternator issue would be independent - unless the belt is not sufficiently tight. Perhaps worth pulling it off to have it tested.

do i need to attach the positive to the negative in the a/c compressor wire so that it can ground correctly?

Do i just leave the wire to be and tape it to something where it wont get in the way?

not much of an electrician here sorry.

Nooooo - the two wires to the compressor should be isolated from each other, or else you will have a direct short leading to a blown fuse.

If the wire and connector are not damaged, I'd just tape them out of the way.
