I have a 95 sunfire that has not given me much trouble till recently. First off, I bought this used and the previous owner wired the fan directly to keep it running in order for it not to overheat. Is there a way to fix it so it does not need that? Secondly, it now makes a clunking noise when I accelerate. To explain, when I put it in gear and try to accelerate, it clunks and clanks, but if I rev up slightly and slowly release the clutch it does not do it. What could be causing that ? And lastly, when I go over a bump or move slowly, both forward and backwards, I can hear a popping noise from the rear tires :(. I think it might be the struts but would like a more experienced opinion from the forum.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

You have to determine if the fan relay or the temperature sensor is preventing the fan from running on its own.

For the noise check your motor mounts and whether you have a broken exhaust hanger.

Check your struts by trying to bounce the rear of the car up and down and then releasing it, should stop immediately if not struts are shot. You can also look for signs of fluid leakage on the struts.

Thank you, I'll check on all that :).
