96 pontiac firebird LT1 350 water pumo not circulating fluid. Engine gets hot. Replaced thermastat, added coolant. Also the electric fans will not kick on. Any and all ideas would be helpful. I have ran direct power to fans and they do come on. I have replaced the cooling fan relay as well.

the fans will not kick on until about 230-235. It is a reveresed cooling system so its designed to run a little hotter than most cars. also the water pump is not really considered electric. It runs off the timing chain. The only thing i can think of to try without replacing the water pump would be to make sure the system is bleed. if u have put coolant in it resently it is easy to get air in the system. On top by the alternator there is a line going to the water pump with a bleed port on it.... put a lot of towels around the line before u try and open it to bleed. if it leaks down to the optispark (distributor) u will have a lot more problems. let me know if it works
