97 Grand Am Idle prob

97 grand am 3100 runs good while driving and stopping, power is good but when its put into park or neutral it serge's and sometimes stalls .I have checked the vacuum and its good so is the compression and fuel pressure I changed and cleaned the MAF sensor and the Idle control valve also the MAP sensor and temp sensor and PCV valve , Nothing has made any difference ?

I would take it to a place like Autozone and have them check it for any trouble codes. Do you have a check engine light on?

no codes I have a code reader not one for real time but one for basic codes and no lights on

One other thing you might check is the EGR valve. I have seen where carbon can build up under it and not allow it to close all the way and cause that problem.

I had the same problem. I replaced everything.Throttle sensor,egr,evap,cam sensor,intake gasket,temp sensor. I was bored to changed that.But the pcm just needed to get reflashed. I was getting inc on drive cycle on egr,evap but it's good now.

ya sorry I did change the EGR too but I will have to look into flashing the comp
