97 Grand AM Mystery. Sometimes won't start

I have a 97 Grand AM 2.4L that has recently developed a really annoying problem. Twice this past week the car won't start but when I try again the next morning it fires right up. When it doesn't start, it sounds like the battery is dead however even jumping it does no good. I'm at a bit of a loss here so hopefully you guys can get me pointed in the right direction.

check the battery connections both at the battery and at the ground and at the starter. In addition most auto parts chains will check your battery condition for free.
