97 Pontiac grand am door wont...

...open? the other day it iced over pretty bad. the car is a 2 door gt. i went to open the door, and when i pulled up on the handle it clicked like it was going to open but wouldnt. i figured that it was frozen around the door jam, so i grabbed the top of the door and pulled and it opened. when i went to close it, it wouldnt latch, like the latch was froze. so i locked the door and closedit. it latched closed. the next day the door opened and colsed fine 4 times, then it wouldnt open. i tried both handles, locking and unlocking inside and out. I even pulled the door panel off and grabbed the lock bar and door handle bar to open them and nothing. the door just feels like it is locked but its not. please help

thanks for the answers, any idea on how to get it open? the panel is only half off. all i could get off was the top part. so it is still attached from midway and down. it is almost impossible to get to the latch from inside
 
remove the seat it will give more room to get panel off once off look for bent or broken parts good luck.
 
just gotta look at the hangers and latches and see if anything is broke or bent...?
