ok my motor is knocking but when i accelerate the knocking goes away and when i decelerate it comes right back what could the knocking be ? plz help ......4clyd. twin cam
1997 pontiac grand am gt
and if you have a clue of what it could plz explain if you can how to change it and how much it could cost

plz and thank you

that could be caused by several different things, so since we cant hear or see the engine running you will have to determine where the knock is coming from, like a rod knock or lifter noise then we can help you with it,its impossible to tell you anything without hearing it running, low oil pressure will cause one to knock a certain times so that might be something you want to check out, good luck.

check engine oil and make sure it is at right level. If it is try changing the oil and putting a little higher grade oil. If you use 5w-30 use 10w-30 in it instead. It worked for my chevy lumina.

The twin cams are know for being junk sounds like a lower end noise i'd keep Driving it untill it got real bad. Gonna need a new motor sometime prolly to fare gone to fix it now without getting another motor

Crankshaft main bearing going out. If you keep driving it will get worse. 90% of the time when a crank bearing goes bad, it will score the crank journal. Were taking major bucks to repair. This year model car is not worth the cost of repairing. You can get a few more miles out of this car by changing to a 50 or 60 weight oil. I've worked on a lot of engines and overhauled many. I wouldn't drive this car very far, it could leave you stranded.
