97 sunfire gt... problem?

I have a 97 sunfire gt it will shift into 1st and 2nd fine but will not go into 3rd or over-drive.. Does anyone know what the problem could be? thanks Kayla

Are you saying you have an automatic transmission and when driving with the shifter in D it does not go into any gears higher than 2nd or a manual tranmission and the shifter wont move into 3rd and 4th? Please clairfy your questions. Thanks.
