I know theres threads about this all over the internet but I'm pretty much done trying to figure it out, its had a new head gasket, compression is a solid 150psi across all four, swapped in a known good ICM and coil packs, new plugs. I think theres a vac leak somewhere but I can't find it. I say vac leak because if I start it with the IAC unplugged the revs shoot up to 2k and then bounce between 2k and 2.5k...so the IAC is compensating for the leak when its plugged in...only thing I can think of is a crack in the intake man, I had it off when I did the Head gasket so theres a new gasket on there too...what are the chances?

Any input would be fantastic.

also...I have a spare car (Rusted to shit) with a good engine and tranny...how easy is it to swap the whole subframe with everything still attached?

Theres no other codes to indicate that its running lean/rich...what are the chances that the EGR isn't closing at idle?...when the car first starts from cold it runs great, as soon as it enters the open loop it starts missing...only ever so slightly but enough to throw the code...would the EGR allowing gases to pass at idle cause a slight miss?

Just guessing here but the motor has close to 300k km on it, would it also be worth checking the timing chain? would a jumped tooth or two screw with a vac reading?

cleaned the egr when I had the head off, it looks to be closing properly...Im just head scratching

I would think you would have a clattering sound coming from the timing cover if things were that loose.

Im going to check it, the guy that had it before didn't do a great job with his repairs, It was a non runner when I picked it up. He fitted the starter which is why it wouldn't start...and at some point he'd also replaced the HG as it was a aftermarket felpro gasket that I removed so who knows what else he tried to do. Doesn't cost anything to look right.

*Update*

So I finally got around to pulling the timing cover off today, the tensioner was pretty worn on both sides and the cam gear was about a tooth off of the timing mark. The chain and sprockets were in good condition so I just slapped a new tensioner and oil plug in...problem solved...for now!

Good luck,if you went through all that effort I would have put a new chain in, they stretch.

Ya I know...but if there's nothing wrong then I can't work on it :D
