My 2.4 98 grand am is running terribly. Seems like it is running on two cylinders. It has 160,000 miles on it. I drove it to the store and back home and parked it still running fine, went in the house for a sec and came out it was barely running. I tried giving it gas and it just died. I started it back up and forced it to run at about 2000 rpms. All of a sudden my son said to look under the car, the lead off pipe to the cat was bright red hot. I thought the cat was stopped up so I cut the pipe with a saws all. It still ran terrible but better. I really thought it had jumped time. Mean while I checked the compression on each cylinder and it read around 120 to 135 on each cylinder. I check the coil packs with a meter and got spark through each one. I decided to check the timing chain so I removed the cover and everything lined up as it should. I put it all back together and started it up, it still runs terrible. I came on here to see if anyone can help or at least tell me what to check next. I had recently changed the fuel filter about three weeks earlier. Could it be my injectors or a fuel problem. Thanks!

try a fuel pressure test and also see if the pressure holds after you turn the car off

Try a new Coil support bracket. Basicaly, it is like a distributor cap on a normal car.
