First of, my name is Dallas, and this is my second sunfire. This one has 74K miles and is drivetrain sound!!! But the top has a rip in it (6") and the back window is taped in place and wont allow the top to fold in. PO said he bought it that way and left it replacing tape as needed. The trunk smells musty and the rear speakers don't work, so it's leaking and I want to get it fixed. Is there a way to put a cheap plastic window like on other convertibles instead of the glass one it has in it now? Thanks!!!

I think I have the tear fixed, The people that work next to where I work are a sewing company, and they think they can patch it with some cool things, all I would have to do is water proof it.

Thanks!!!! Dallas

concerning the back glass, take it to a shop that specializes in convert. tops

the glass seems to be intact, anyone have a pic of what the inside of my top is supposed to look like?

I had the same problem with my 1999 GT vert. But, mine was due to a burlgar thinking I needed a four foot hole in the vert top which put extra pull on the glass and it finally gave way too. I went on Ebay and got this top http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...0487931117&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Just beware you will need two people to do this! Because of stretching and stapling! It took us a couple of days taking our time. It's not impossible and I'd reckon I saved around $1,000 having someone else do it. Here is a picture of sunshine now!

Here is a close up of the back window it is vinyl but does quite well.
