98 sun fire clu king nois from front

Iv resent bought a 98 sunfire with 200.000 miles on it runs beautifully. When I turn I here a loud thunk .my guess is that a balljoint is the culprit all advice is appreciated

Check the upper strut bushings from under the hood , the rubber around the center nut would be cracked if bad.

Cool will do like the sound of that I would think that would be easier than a ball joint.

Easier to replace the whole strut with new than to take it apart to replace just the strut bearing.

On the ball joint issue , it's easier to just replace with new, the lower control arm than to grind and drill out rivets for a ball joint. ( I know from a fact on my Sunbird!)
