So heres a case of bad luck. Been needing to change my oil for a while amd finally had the time to do it today. Was on my way to Wal-mart to get the oil and filter when I noticed the engine knocking when I came to a stop and started accelerating again. I got the car back home and went ahead and changed the oil but it's still knocking. I called a buddy of mine and he said he thinks I'm about to sling a rod and need a new engine. I'm living off a very small income and cannot afford that right now. So I've done some research and found others with same issue it seems. I recored a video for others to listen to and hopefully, can figure out whats going on.

Either timing chain or bearing knock. You have to figure out where the knock is coming from, timing chain cover or elsewhere.

I was thinking timing chain myself from what I've gathered from research. The knocking is coming from the left side of the engine and does seem to be in that general area. Gonna go through my Hayne's manual and check out what I need to do to get the cover off to check.

I have the complete GM Service manual, if you like I can get you the instructions on how to get the cover off. From doing this in the past I know its a pain in the butt to do (try replacing a water pump ) The engine mount goes through the timing chain housing and cover.
