my daughter has a 98 sunfire that just died on the road. We got it started but it had no power to drive. at first it would rev up in neutral but not in gear (similar to the old ford escort module dilema) i replaced the filter which came out in pieces and it started but ran horribly at adle, no throttle at all.I disconnected the fuel lines at the rail and found pressure in the quick connect line but nothing at the regulator side. after doing that it would not get fuel to rail (the pump kicks on for 5 secs then stops.
is there any sensors that would prevent this? also what is that little unit at the throttle body that plugs in and swings aroun on what seams like a rivet? also is it normal for the anti theft light to remain on? NO i cant do the yellow wire thing cuz IT WON'T RUN thanx

The security system is having an issue which may prevent the car from starting. Do you have a second ignition key to try? What do you mean the "filter came out in pieces", the fuel filter? It is a metal canister on the passenger side towards the rear of the car. Did you take a fuel pressure reading?
