Hey all, new to the forums here. I just got a 98 sunfire with a 2200 in it. The person I bought it off of assumed the head gasket was blown. Ran a compression test, all good, sniffed the coolant for carbon....nothing. Oil is oil and coolant is coolant so apparently the head is good. However, the tstat is sticking shut. SO!!! Here is where I hit a snag.
I got the right bolt out of the housing. Got my wrench on the left bolt and felt it turn to mush. Completely rounded it off. Not enough room to pound on a smaller socket or wrench. Extractor wont stick....once again cant get it pounded on. I decided to heat it up and apply kroil then let it sit. Still wouldn't budge. So I decided to take a small chisel and rotate the housing a little to get more room. I set it on the lip, took a solid whack and BAM! The chisel went sideways and fubard the thermostat housing. No problem, I'll just get it the rest of the way out and will have to replace it.....
But I can't find one anywhere. Rock auto doesn't list them, advanced doesn't list them. Napa has some but they are clearly for a different motor as it has two separate line connections on it. So, my question is....where the heck can I find one. TIA
