98 sunfire will start but won't stay started, access not working

I have a 98 sunfire GT...it will start with the turn of the key, but as soon as it's started, it dies again. None of the accessories work (ext and int lights, cig lighter, dash lights and gauges, etc.). The car has been sitting for a couple of weeks, but started and ran with no problem before that.

Thoughts?
 
Does the security lamp flash?

Sounds like the anti-theft acting weird. Try this:

turn the key attempt to start,eng stalls,leave key in on position,security lamp will flash,leave key on for 10 min or until security lamp stops flashing,turn ign off and then attempt to restart the engine,the PCM will learn the key at the start attempt

Let me know if this fixes the problem.
 
where would the security light flash? if you are talking about the one in the gauge cluster or the one on the stereo, they are not flashing
 
None of the accessories work period or just when it dies after it starts? Does anything come on before starting?

none of them work period...interior lights will not even come on when you open the door...nothing comes on before starting the car, during, or after....will not even beep at you with the door open and key in the ignition

only activity that happens is the fuel pump priming when key turned to on, starter working, brief ignition, and then stall

Check your ground cable at the battery makes sure it tight and clean.
