I just purchased a used '99 Sunfire 2.2 and have a weird question.

The front seat cup holder is bare plastic. It looks like there should be a flexible plastic insert like the cup holder on my '98 Grand Am. I can't find any reference to one in part catalogs or anything, though.

So before I go searching junkyards, can anyone tell me whether there actually is an insert or not?

Also, it has about 170k on it. It runs beautifully. Are there any common problems I should keep my eye out for?

I am having a similar dilemma with the cup holders in my Sunfire. Frankly, they are not ergonomic and the fit and finish is terrible compared to my other vehicles. Did I mention my other vehicles include an E320, F360, and Gallardo? Well, technically they aren't mine, but I've driven them and the cup holders they have blow away the OEM ones in my Pontiac!

See the C4 corvettes cup holders suck.. u cant get the extra super biggie drinks in them

It's a sedan. So neither convertible nor coupe ;)

Anyway, this vehicle is a second car and the cup holder is a massive improvement over the ones in the old Civic it's replacing.

Surprised to see the comments about the fit and finish. I must just be lucky to have a well-maintained car. The interior is in pristine condition. It's very comfortable, fairly quiet, and everything on the inside is unbroken and working well. I checked out a few other cars (several Tauruses, a Cavalier, a Maxima, a couple of Civics) and this one had by the far the nicest, most friendly, comfortable interior.

It's just a plain white completely stock Sunfire interior. You guys must be hard up ;)

I have a 2002 sunflower and its been a great car. the only thing i had to do was at 152,000 miles i had to replace the waterpump. and at 205,000 I replaced the thermastat. Oh and the cup holder thing. Ive had mine since 32,00o miles in 2003 and it was just bare plastic. no inserts. Oh and the struts needs replaced too about 200,000. And a little advice. dont pull the e brake on dry pavement cause i did on a over pass and now my rear end has shifted. But im a tech and I fixed it and no more for me.
