hey everyone,
I've got a question that I'm sure you guys could help me with.
my question is, I've got a 99 firebird with a 3.8 in it and I want to remove the motor. a couple of my buddies were telling me it would be way easier to remove it from the bottom.
Is that true? and also how would I go about doin that?
thank you
any info is greatly appreciated

I don't know why they told you that... I've always removed engines from the top.

From the bottom is a common way of doing it. The fourth gen is different Do a little research.

mine is a Gen 2
so wat would be the best way to remove it.

Yeah, I've never done one of that generation. I guess the way the engine is tucked in there from the bottom is the only way. I learn something new every day, and that's what I love about these forums.:)

I pulled a motor from a 96 and did it by dropping the K-Member. I was pulling the motor at a junk yard so the car sat pretty high off the ground already. It was my first time pulling a motor and I'm glad it was on a junk yard car rather than my own. I had a few hang ups here and there, but I got it done eventually. Whenever I'm doing a job or repair that I'm unfamiliar with, I go to the junk yard out here and perform the job on the same make/model car in the lot. That way if I mess up, hey it's not my car :D. It's a good way to learn, figure out the exact tools you'll need and develop a strategy before actually going in and doing the job. I think it's worth the $2 entrance fee. Hope this helps and good luck!
