im going to start off by asking my main question then ill give some background on the car. why did my cam break with a 114,000 miles on the clock? we have owned this car since it was 4 years old with 42,000 miles on her. its a 4 door bright red tinted windows, nice looking car. my wife is the main driver. i have had tons of problems but the wife loves the car so i keep dumping money in to her. i have replaced both front wheel bearings, front coil springs, powersteering lines, head gaskets, lower intake gaskets twice, water pump twice all the normal like hoses belts brakes. just about a month ago the cam broke. so i replaced the motor with one from a wrecked car with a bunch more miles on it. it went 94 miles and the dang cam broke again and the cam bearings were tore up pretty bad. from talking to a friend of mine who own a junk yard this is a pretty common thing. the cams in these motors are hollow and insane expensive. is the problem lack of oil flow? are the oil pumps weak or just dont have enough volume. i got another replacement motor today that i will put in the car this week. is there something i can do before installation to prevent this? it seems like the bearings are failing and then the cam then breaks either from the execive play on one end of the cam or one or two bearing seize up and it breaks from stress.is there another year of motor that i can put in to get away from the problem all together? i was told its a 99 only no other one will work and i wasnt given a reason why. any info here would be greatly appreciated
