99 pontiac sunfire(standard tranny), occasionally wont start,until you open the

hood.this ever happened to u? i have a standard sunfire, and it just started to do this.i turn the key and the lighst come on, but it wont ignite/start. then when you open the hood, it eventually starts. the mechanic cant find anything wrong with it. i wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else and what it is. it just started to do this, and its not a constant thing.it comes and goes :S .PLEASE HELP!!

That would indicate a loose nut behind the wheel or a short between the seat and steering wheel. have you mechanic look into both of these.
