:confused:I HAVE 99 PONTIAC SUNFIRE GT WITH THE 2.4L, AUTOMATIC, I WAS DRIVIN IT THE OTHER DAY AND HAD TO STOP BECAUSE THE COOLING FAN STOPPED, SO I TRIED TO BIPASS IT, TO MAKE IT RUN CONSTANT,ANYWAYS I WAS GOIN TO ROUTE IT THROUGH THE FUSE BOX THATS BESIDES THE BATTERY, I TOUCHED A WIRE IN EACH ONE ,BUT DECIDED TO RUN IT THE FUSE BOX IN CAR, I PULLED OUT RELAYS AND PUT BACK IN, AFTER I GOT THAT FIXED, I WENT TO DRIVE IT, NOW IT WONT SHIFT OUT OF 1ST, IS THER A TRANS RELAY OR AUTO SHIFT CONTROL OF THIS CAR THAT I MIGHT HAVE SHORT OUT/ IF SO WHER IS IT LOCATED? I CANT FIND IT NOWHERE ON THE TRANSMISSION?? I TREID RESETTING THE BATTERY BUT STILL THE SAME.

there is no fuse for any thing to do with the transmission, although its supposed to be a elctronic transmission, its supposed to have shift soleniods, but i cant see any on it? its the 99 pontiac sunfire gt 2.4l , i dont understand it, the check engine light was always on, but now after i tried to fix cooling fan , and now the brake and abs light are on? and it wont shift past 1st? i must have tripped something but i dont know where to look?nothing is leaking

You looked at page 6-60 fuse marked ERLS? Did you have the check engine light code checked at autozone or other free lookup location? The shift solenoid is inside the case where the valve body is located. Are you sure when you were pulling relays you didnt bend a contact when reinstalling them? The ABS and Brake light indicate a bad wheel sensor.

I pulled the relays out of the fuse box beside motor, because i was going to staight wire the fan , i touched each one ,but it started running without switch on, so i rerouted it to the fuse box in car, after that, i drove the car and it would not shift to second, it just stayed in first gear, and the abs light ome on, plus the ets light wouldnt come on no more ,plus brake light is on? Ther is no fuse or relay marked for the transmission, i checked, is there a hidden relay somewhere on the car? Or do you think i shorted the shift soleniod?

Did you look at the manual that l provided a link for? The fuse is in the passenger compartment.

I tried to look at the manual, but my microsoft word wont let me jump to a page easy, you said there is a fuse panal some where on the passenger side?

I couldnt find any fuse panel on the passenger side, where is it exactly located?

I stated passenger compartment, the box is on the drivers side of the dashboard when you open the drivers door. Any luck in downloading Adobe?

there is no fuse on that fuse panal thats for any transmission componants, but i must haved tripped something somewhere because it goes from me parking it and then messing around with the fan, to me driving it and it not shifting plus abs light is on, brake light is on,i dont understand it???

??

Still cant figure it out, no fuses or relays are anywhere on any fuse panal for the transmission, can anybody help?

Did you check the fuse marked ERLS in the dashboard side fuse box?

Yes, i checked, thanks, i must have took that fuse out when i was trying to straight wire the cooling fan, but changed my mind and went to the ac fuse, i forgot to put it back in not knowing what it was for, lol, it fixed it, thanks again

Wow, easy fix, difficult communicating it to you, glad you got it fixed!
