This morning I went out to find my battery dead. Not a problem..I drive a stick and was able to pushstart it down a hill.

I only live a few minutes from work and wasn't thinking when I turned it off instead of letting it run to charge the battery a bit.

On one of my breaks, I went out and tried to jump it with a coworker's car...i KNOW I had a good connection with the cables but even after it'd been hooked up for a few minutes I couldn't get anything on the dashboard to come up, much less get the engine to turn over.

I noticed when i turned the key COMPLETELY to the off position that there was a buzzing sound coming from under the dash on the passenger side...and that noise stopped when I turned it to the 'on' position.

Through trial and error, I found that the buzzing stopped when I pulled the fuse for the interior lamps. Even after pulling that though and letting it charge hooked up to my coworker's car for another 10 minutes or so, there was absolutely NO change.

I haven't had ANY problems with my battery until this morning so I have no reason to suspect that's the problem and I'm curious and slightly worried about what the heck that sound was.

Anyone have any ideas of things I could check for?

Tried jumping it off again using someone else's vehicle and it fired right up so..not quite sure what was going on the first time around. Still curious as to what would be hooked up through the interior lamps and be buzzing when the key was turned to off.

depends how long it buzzes after the key is turned to off. these cars have some fancy feature where when you turn the car off, the interior lights come on for a minute or so then dim to off
