Okay, I've actually posted a few times already, so my intro is a little late. But, here goes better late than never: My name is Wes and I'm from Louisville, KY. I own my second Pontiac right now. My first was a '78 or '79 Grand Lemans. It was a worn out heap of a car that I bought in desperation for $250. Good motor and tranny, but the carb was bad, all the wiring was shot, it mysteriously blew fuses all the time in different area, the strut mount on the drivers front side was destroyed, it died all the time, and so it goes. However, I knew it was just a worn out car. And that was seven years ago. I've owned other GM products since then, all being good vehicles, and I happend to find my second Ponti a few weeks ago. I purchased a 1983 Bonneville for $1550. Sounds high, but this car is in incredible condition. It's been garage kept most of its life, the body is incredible minus a few tiny dings, and the interior is almost mint. However, the motor is problematic - it is the 3.8 V6, and it's not original. It's out of a 1978 Grand Prix with the pre-emissions stuff. So the other day I needed a thermostat housing, and the 1978 GP wouldn't work because the car has the much larger electronically controlled 1983 Bonne carb on it, so I had to get a Bonne therm. hous. with federal emmisions type carb setup. These sort of things are going to haunt me! Another example, I'm about to throw my PS belt, because all the pulleys are GP except the power steering, which sits way back and twists the belt. I have smog equiptment connected to nothing whatsoever. So it goes. My wife's car is a 1989 Bonneville twin, the 3.8 Buick LaSabre. It's a little beat up bodywise but otherwise a good car. My family has had both good and bad - ney, terrible - experience with GM products, but so far I've done well. I love this pain-in-the-butt crossbreed Grand Bonneprix I'm driving, when I'm actually driving it (second time in the shop in two weeks since I bought it, bad water pump). I hope it turns out to be a great car when the bugs get worked out. I will keep it nice and trim it up a little (no Pimp My Ride stuff, just a little tweaking) and try to make it a Bonneville that Pontiac friends and fans can be proud of. I will try to get pics to post if there is a place to do it on here. Thanks!
