Hello guys and gals ,

Got me a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire . It was given to me as I had it stored for a friend . He's not coming back so he sent me a BOS . I have no intent on keeping it , I want tto sell it and sell cheap to get it gone fast .

ISSUE : Car works great . Fired right up after sitting over the winter . However , all the dash lights are on :
ABS
TC (traction control I assume)
SES(service engine soon)
SERVICE vehicle (I think)
Also , the odometer numbers are distorted , only occasionally it can be read .

Speedo , tach and other guages seem to function as they should . Engine purrs .

I ran a scanner on it and it shows nothing

I'm thinking replace the instrument cluster (can find used for $80) However , if there is a $5 fix , obviously , that's what I'm after . I want to sell the car for $1000 , pretty cheap considering the K and it's near perfect condition . It will make a good car for someone . I've already inspected the mechanics , and other than weak struts , couldn't find anything other than this light issue , even the tires are near new and the AC is cold .

I can't sell a car with an issue , even if it's going cheap .

If you could confirm the cluster is the issue or know a fix , please advise . I tried to search the Sunfire section with no luck .

Thanks for your input .

My ABS light was on on my 1996 Sunfire as well, two times. First time it turned out to be a blown fuse under the hood, might wanna check that. Second time, turned out to be a loose connection on the passenger side ABS speed sensor, wiggled it a bit and the ABS light went off, might wanna check those sensors too. Theres one right behind the driver side tire and the passenger side tire but not sure if theres any on the rear tires.

As far as the other stuff, I don't know. Sorry.

Thanks Eric . I'm checking those out right now . Took the DS wheel off , took the speed sensor off , cleaned it . Disco'd the battery a 1/2 hour , lights came on right away at start . I'm still leaning towards the cluster issue . The odometer reading , that is kinda messed up , can be fixed by hitting the dash . However , it has no effect on the other warning lights .

Guess I'll head back out , disco the battery again ad do the pass side , and check the wiring after that .
First , I will go for the easy fix and test all the fuses under the hood .

TY

Fuses checked , all good , did find 2 sidemarker lights and a rear DS tail out . I'll replace them but doubt it's my issue

lookin for a deal like this one. what state is the car located in?

and will it be posted in the classified here?

Hupptacular , I'm in Canada , doubt it's worth the trip , lol .

I removed both ABS fuses , and even the BCM fuse and the lights still appeared , weird , thought that would make them go ouut for sure .

Still thinking it's a cluster issue .

ironically enough. a road trip to canada is already destined in my near future. !!
