AC Compressor Not Engaging!

Just replaced ac compressor on a 2004 Pontiac Montana... Will not engage? I refilled freon to specs and bypassed the fuse but after the bypass it still wont engage on its own. Any suggestions? Also it is holding freon no leaks.

Bad compressor maybe?

Check the high pressure switch that will hold open the clutch engagement. May have to bypass it temporary until it takes some freon ?

Did you evacuate the system before installing freon?
