I am looking to install an older aftermarket head unit (JVC KD-G340) in my 2002 pontiac grand am and I have been doing some research on what parts I am going to need for this. I have installed head units in other cars before and I am quite familiar with it. The issue I am having now is that this car has the monsoon sound system already equipped in it. I was just wondering if there is a wiring harness that I can just buy to plug in and play. I would like to retain the chimes if possible but its not a deal breaker as long as the sound and volume coming from the stereo is as clear as can be. I have read many success and failure stories about doing this. I know some people are using GMOS-04's and GMRC-01's to install their head units. I was just wondering what you guys recommend and any other advice or tips you could give me. Thanks

You should be able to get a harness from a local store. Make sure its for your year and model just check the back of the package.

I looked on crutchfield but couldn't find one for my car due to the monsoon sound system already being installed

I got a wiring harness and another part that tells the computer everything is ok because of the security system in the stock stereo.
