I just bought a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am. I took it into the shop and they replaced the fuel filter and surpentine belt, now when I turn my car on there's a noice, they said its the air compressor, and it only goes away when I run air. I never had this noise before. How much does it cost to replace the air compressor?

I have the same car and just replaced mine. I bought a used one at a GM recycler for $150 w/ 6 month warranty and shop charged me $95 to install it and charge system. Not bad...but....now I have a leak where the hose hooks up to the compressor and they don't know why it's leaking. It may be the compressor surface it warped so you might consider getting a new compressor. They cost between $300 - $400.
