An old problem but a question.

My 99 GrandAm SE 4.6 is having intermittent problems with the AT Shift Lock circuit - suspect the brake pedal solenoid is about done. In several locations I've read about a plate on the passenger side of the center console that gives access to a switch which allows you to get out of PARK. My 99 has no such plate - my question: is there another method (other than try it on ACC or OFF) to get you out of PARK?

Page 26 of owners manual provides some information but no access to a switch.
You realize your brake lights may also not work?

First thing I checked was the brake lights and the info in the owners doesn't work for me. I plan to replace both the brake pedal solenoid and the switch in the shifter housing but was curious about why my 99 din't have this access plate I've read about.

You are correct that 98 and earlier had that feature.

Seems like this 'At shift lock' feature was common on most makes at the turn of the century - was hoping for a work around 'til I could remove and replace the parts.
