• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... I purchased a 1998 Sunfire 2.4L w/ 117k Autom. All it needed was a good cleaning to be presentable. Everythging was fine until my son degreased the engine. Now there's intermittent problems.
Sometimes the car starts fine. It's completly normal. That seems to last for what seems to be the next 3 , or so starts, then it goes into antitheft mode. It starts, then stalls. I do the passlock clearing proceedure (leave the key on the on possistion for 10 min.) this does work and allows the car to start. However, after it starts, about 2 sec. later, there's a clicking noise from the instrument cluster as the (oil, alt, coolent, antitheft and check. engine) lights blink a few times, then stay on. The RPM gauge also clicks and bounces up and down too, then goes flat. The car runs just fine. I can shut it off and it will restart multipal times. However the same thing continues to happen w/ the dash lights and RPM gauge.
Then I re-do the passlock clearing proceedure again and then the car starts as normal, no clicking noise or dash lights on. Again this might stay normal for the nxt 3 - 5 starts, then it all repeats itself again
Anyone have ANY ideas as to what might be causing this, or as to any possible fixes.
Thanks , in advance, for your consideration, time and efforts.

since your problems started after the degreasing I woud check for water in the electrical connections , water can be retained inside even when it looks dry on the outside. can be causeing shorts
