Auto transmision for a V8

I just bought a 1984 Fiero with an LT1 350 v8.
I want to change the manual transmision to an automatic.
What kind of car transmision should I look for that would be a good hassle free
installation and that would work very well?

The 4T40 (not the 4T40E) will work well. 4-spd Automatic.
Or you can go up to the 4T65EHD. The ones with the "E" require an electronic controller.
You can buy aftermartket controllers as well.
