Hey,

I have been having trouble with my 2003 Pontiac Grand Am for about a year now. It has been taken to 3 different auto shops (including GM dealership) and no one can figure out what is wrong with the machine.

The Problem: If I am to leave my car plugged into the car battery for extended periods of time, 2 - 4 hours, it will completely drain the battery. When I go to use the car next, the engine won't turn over and sometimes the battery will be completely dead.

This requires me to remove the black attachment to the battery every time I exit the vehicle and re-attach it when I go to start the car again. Also I need to charge the battery every 2 weeks. I have purchased and used various car batteries in hopes of a faulty battery but that has not worked.

The Cause: I hit a very large pot hole while passing someone on an old road. Immediately flashed all the dash board lights, flattened the tire and damaged the rim. The internal computer must have been damaged when I hit.

The Solution: I am hoping that some on has had a similar issue and will be able to let me know of a solution!

Thank you very much,
Nathan

Have the shops hooked up a multi-meter to determine if there is a parasitic battery drain?
If they did what was the reading on the multi-meter?
For a fully charged battery to drain in 2 to 4 hours there has to be massive drain which should be traceable by pulling fuses to narrow down which circuit.
In addition the dealer should be able to determine using scan tools which circuits are live after everything is turned off.
