Hey guys. I just joined today. I have a long stretched out. Of h-body ownership. Way Way Back, I had a Chevy pickup 350 swapped into a 76 Astra hatchback. Several years after that I picked up a Buick Skyhawk V6 with 4 speed manual. Later on I picked up a 1975 Monza with 1.8 Isuzu diesel in it. A few days ago I made an actual save of a 1980 Sunbird formula. If it wasn't picked up within a few hours, it was going to go to the Crusher, and I just couldn't allow that to happen. What was weird is I had to travel over a hundred miles to get to the car. The car was located in the greater Seattle area. So I took it by faith to try to hurry up there before somebody else grabbed it as it was first come first serve. So I was happy to save it. The Iron Duke is dead, and the head is not even with the car anymore. It has a three speed automatic. I was thinking about getting a good running S10, and swapping either the 2.5, or the 2.2 into it. Fuel injection would be nice, which I kind of leaned toward the 2.2, but is the wiring going to be much more complicated than if I did the 2.5? And if I want to put a T5 in there or the NV transmission, will all of this slide in simply without hacking and cutting? I'm a very backward backyard mechanic at best, and have no welding skills. I would certainly appreciate any advice.

Fastback it says my picture is too large. I don't see anything on here how to downsize it?

1987 Formulas built in 1980, sort of a rare car.

Need a pic of the trim tag, to see options on your car, the Formula pictured above is a 1977 that only 321 were built.( Just purchased by a member on the Monza madness group on Facebook)
I would get a used 151 or remanufactured one .
