bought a 1998 firebird formula and leaking water all over engine and over heat

Soo I bought a 1998 fire bird formula with a lt-1 engine and the guy told me it needs some work like oil change and he told me it drove good but then I drove it like 8 miles and the engine started getting over heated I went to the gas station and put water in the water pump and it was leaking some water... and the car was throwing out the water then I was able to put water in it and then I drove it. to the freeway and it started throwing out the water in the freeway and the engine started getting over heated again I don't know what to do to fix this any suggestions how i can fix this ? :/

Are you saying you added water to the engine and the water pump is leaking? If you dont know where the leak is from rent a pressure tester and find the source.

Isn't the '98 an ls1 motor?
