Brake Fluid Compatibility for 1969 Pontiac Bonneville

I have a 1969 Pontiac Bonneville that calls for DOT2 brake fluid. I noticed that one of the master cylinder reservoirs was low, but you can't buy DOT2. I bought this car three years ago, so I don't know what the previous owner put it. Is DOT3 brake fluid (which I can buy) compatible with DOT2? I mixed some of the brake fluid in the master cylinder with DOT3 and no strange things have happened.

you can use DOT3, DOT4, and DOT5.1. Try to use a squeeze ball type siphon to remove as much fluid from the master and then put in the fresh fluid
