...battery wire? Does anyone know where the small short wire goes on the negative battery cable? I'm not talking about the main thick one but theres a thinner and shorter one as well and at the end it's broken off and I can see the crimped piece of metal so I know it's the end of the wire. It's way too short to reach the engine and I've been looking around everywhere it could reach and I can't find the spot where it's supposed to be attached. It's a stock V6 1986 Fiero SE by the way.
I thought about that but didn't notice anything. I'll have to take another look around the at the sheet metal... With this secondary wire not attached will it cause the batteries to not recieve a charge from the alternator? Everytime I drive the car anywhere the battery loses its charge after a few minutes as though it's not being charged while the cars running and stalls. I replaced the battery with a brand new one and it does the exact same thing. I am thinking I need to replace the alternator but I would like to re-attach this wire to see if it fixes the problem. I also have a 1.5v solar charger attached to my lighter socket and after leaving almost 3 weeks plugged in without touching the car at all it still doesn't have enough charge in the brand new battery to start the car.
Okay, so I just looked again and found the spot where it connects, which was cover with snow on the chassis. Once I re-attach it will it fix the charging problem or is that just a secondary wire that doesn't matter in terms of the battery recieving a charge? Thanks for all the answers by the way.
