In 2009 I bought a 2007 Pontiac Torrent; I was able to secure a 5yr Warranty at the time of purchase. I've had nothing but battery problems with my Torrent so when my warranty was about to expire I didn't get it fixed in time and they said they wont sell me a warranty without getting the problem resolved.

Car was finally all paid off in March 2015 and I received a call today asking if I was interesting in purchasing a type of coverage that would help with Mechanical breakdowns such as Transmission.

Unfortunately I kind of got hung up on from the other side because I was trying to explain my battery issue and wasn't sure if I still could get the mechanical side of things or not.

I'm ultimately asking if these "Outside" mechanical coverage is pretty decent or not; or if I should always go with what my Car Dealer is selling/offering

Thanks

Personally with the GM cars I've had I never purchased the extra coverage and in the end it would not have paid for itself since nothing major ever failed. As for the blind call type of sales you need to read the fine print as to what it covers and how they pay for the repairs.
